Password protect projects
How to Password Protect a Project
Setting Up Password Protection
- Navigate to your project: Log in to your Dunked account and go to the project you want to protect.
- Access the project settings: Either create a new project or edit an existing one.
- Enable password protection: In the project settings, locate the "Password Protect" section. Toggle the switch to enable password protection.
- Set a password: Once enabled, you'll see a password field appear. Enter a secure password that you'll share with those who need access to your project.
- Save your changes: Click the "Save" or "Update" button at the bottom of the page to apply the password protection.
Using Private Shareable Links
Creating Private Links
- Enable password protection: Private links are only available when password protection is enabled.
- Access the private links section: After saving your project with password protection enabled, you'll see the "Private shareable links" section.
- Create a new link: Click the "Create link" button to generate a new private link.
- Configure link settings (optional):
- Set an expiration date for the link
- Limit the number of times the link can be used
- Share the link: Copy the generated link and share it with your intended recipient. When they use this link, they'll bypass the password screen and gain immediate access to your project.
Managing Private Links
Viewing Link Activity
Each private link shows usage statistics, allowing you to monitor:
- How many times the link has been used
- Whether it has expired or reached its usage limit
Editing or Deleting Links
- Copy link: Click the copy icon to quickly copy the link to your clipboard
- Delete link: Remove links that are no longer needed by clicking the delete icon
Security Considerations
- Choose strong, unique passwords for your projects
- Regularly review your private links and remove any that are no longer needed
- Consider setting expiration dates or usage limits for sensitive projects
- Remember that anyone with the password or a valid private link can access your protected project
Benefits of Project Password Protection
- Share work-in-progress projects with clients before they're ready for public viewing
- Create client-specific portfolios that only they can access
- Protect sensitive or confidential work
- Control the timeline of when your work becomes publicly available
