Password protect

Dunked offers a comprehensive site-wide password protection feature that allows you to secure your entire portfolio with a single password. This is perfect for designers and creatives who want to keep their entire body of work private while still being able to share it with clients, collaborators, or potential employers.

Password Protect Your Entire Site

Accessing Site-Wide Password Protection

  1. Navigate to your settings: Log in to your Dunked account and go to the "Settings" section in your dashboard.
  2. Go to General settings: Select the "General" tab within your settings.
  3. Enable password protection: Locate the "Password Protect" section. Toggle the switch to enable site-wide password protection.
  4. Set a password: Once enabled, you'll see a password field appear. Enter a secure password that you'll share with those who need access to your entire portfolio.
  5. Save your changes: Click the "Save" or "Update" button to apply the password protection to your entire site.

Using Private Shareable Links for Your Site

Dunked's private shareable links feature is also available for site-wide protection, allowing specific individuals to bypass the password screen entirely.

Creating Private Links for Your Site

  1. Enable site-wide password protection: Private links are only available when password protection is enabled.
  2. Access the private links section: After saving your settings with password protection enabled, you'll see the "Private shareable links" section.
  3. Create a new link: Click the "Create link" button to generate a new private link.
  4. Configure link settings (optional):
  • Set an expiration date for the link
  • Limit the number of times the link can be used
  1. Share the link: Copy the generated link and share it with your intended recipient. When they use this link, they'll bypass the password screen and gain immediate access to your entire portfolio.

Managing Site-Wide Private Links

Viewing Link Activity

Each private link shows usage statistics, allowing you to monitor:

  • How many times the link has been used
  • Whether it has expired or reached its usage limit

Editing or Deleting Links

  • Copy link: Click the copy icon to quickly copy the link to your clipboard
  • Delete link: Remove links that are no longer needed by clicking the delete icon

When to Use Site-Wide Password Protection

  • Portfolio under development: Keep your entire site private while you're still building and refining it
  • Client presentations: Create a temporary portfolio specifically for a client pitch
  • Agency or studio work: Protect your agency's portfolio of client work
  • Exclusive portfolios: Create a portfolio that's only accessible to a select audience
  • Teaching or educational purposes: Share your portfolio only with students or workshop participants

Understanding the Hierarchy of Password Protection

It's important to note how site-wide password protection interacts with individual project or page protection:
  • Site-wide protection secures your entire portfolio with one password
  • Project-specific protection only applies to individual projects
  • Page-specific protection only applies to individual pages
If you have site-wide protection enabled, visitors will need to enter that password first before encountering any project or page-specific passwords.

Security Recommendations

  • Choose a strong, memorable password
  • Change your password periodically, especially if you've shared it widely
  • Use private links with expiration dates for temporary access
  • Regularly review your active private links and remove any that are no longer needed
  • Consider using different passwords for site-wide protection versus individual projects or pages
By implementing site-wide password protection, you gain complete control over who can access your Dunked portfolio, allowing you to share your work selectively while maintaining privacy for your creative content.
